Libby has been sewing and crafting since primary school but it was while completing her thesis that she started sewing regularly and making her own clothes. Eventually she found the wonderful Melbourne sewing community and, despite her introverted tendencies, became an avid participant and organiser of sewist meet-ups including co-hosting Melbourne Frocktails. Libby has a penchant for shirtdresses and circle skirts and loves scouring the internet for vintage style inspiration. Always by her side are her husband, Italian greyhound Monte, and miniature poodle Albert. You can follow her on Instagram @liblib.
Abby has been sewing for as long as she can remember and started off like many other crafty kids, making clothes for her Barbie dolls. That was more than 25 years ago now! These days, she has a house full of noisy boys and a web design business to keep her busy. As if that’s not enough, she has just completed a Masters in Fashion Technology designing space suits! In her free time, she loves sewing, knitting and baking as well as taking care of her ever expanding indoor plant collection. You can find her on Instagram @abbythingsforboys.
To help our attendees connect with one another, we have created the Sew Melbourne Facebook Group. Join the group to meet other garden party attendees, share your outfit progress, get ideas and opinions, and find some friends to share a picnic spread. We hope this will help everyone get to know each other better and especially help anyone new to the Garden Party or the Melbourne sewing community. Please come on over and say hi!
